Just breathe. Breath, Kim. Breath.
Wish shaky hands the woman continued unzipping the body bag, her fingers hurting from the cold. However, she couldn't force herself to look back at the body. That face- No. It can't be him. It just can't!
The dim light of the freezer room did help to work with the bodies... at least a little bit. It was still disturbing beyond belief. Even in the dark, the woman could see how some of them were very heavily mutilated and some were even at a state of decomposition when they are beyond the phase of being able to be recognized. Like the young blonde woman with a purplish-blue face or a young dark-skinned man who's partly lost his skin and his cheekbones now were as prominent as the jawbone itself.
"Just breath," Kim turned her head and took another peek inside the bag since... She had no other choice. After the event, she woke up here and the madame told her to check the pockets for any golden trinkets or items of any value before the burying. And, unfortunately, the pesky cameras have clearly captured all of her actions!
So she looked...
"...no," the young woman let out a loud breath as with a sharp movement she unzipped the rest of the bag.
"Jasper!" even though the young man's skull had lost the left side of his jaw there was no doubt it was him. Her friend who she didn't even know was there. Who's voice she didn't even get to hear- The voice she will never get to hear again.
The tears formed in her eyes, the urge to vomit from the stench made her stomach curl. She looked at him one more time.
"Jas," she whispered and carefully patted his forehead before covering his face with one of the bag's sides. For a moment she just sat there on the ground beside him crying silently, mourning his death...
Until the door to the kitchen has suddenly opened. The big bald man put a few new bodies onto the floor right near the entrance. Now counting the new four bags there were about a dozen of them in the room and who knows how many have been and left this room before Kim offered this mad bitch her services.
"Hey," the ginger looked up at the man, trying to grasp his attention. This was their third time they've met.
"Hey, wait!" she stood up willing to approach the man but before she was given a chance he already hid behind the metal door peeking at her like a scared child through the tiny gap.
"Teddy," the man apologetically whispered his name and hectically closed the door behind him.
"Shit," Kim swore and ran both of her hands through her messy hair. She sniffed the snot back into her nose and brushed the tears away looking down at the four new bags. Four... Four new bags.
And then it hit her.
With a light bolt speed, she kneeled beside the bags shoving those that were on top to the ground so they wouldn't be stacked atop each other. She rolled over the one on the bottom and her fingers grasped the zipper.
"Please don't be Aoi please, please..." she prayed and-
She couldn't believe her eyes.
"M- Maya," she whispered in a hoarse from the cold and the realization of what have occurred during the last event voice. Unlike the other bodies she saw Maya looked the same- Just as if she has fallen asleep so Kim without hesitation touched and shook her by the shoulders.
"Maya!" she called out for her in desperation but the heavy body limped in her grasp. Kim held the body in the air for a few seconds staring back at the woman before slowly putting her back on the ground.
She stood up in disbelief, her hands grasping onto her own ginger hair as if her life depended on it. Maya was dead. No. The chalices- They must have been poisoned. No. NO! Not Maya!
"No," Kim whispered to oneself and took a step away from the bodies. She stood silent, breathing in and out white puffs of air. In and out. In and out. "No... No," she whispered. Just breath. Breath in and out. In-
"NO!" the woman yelled as she collapsed to the ground onto her knees and began crying. This was her fault. She failed. She can't save them all. She couldn't! She lost.
There were no more tears left. Only pain. And sorrow. For all they have lost. None of them deserved this. This has to be stopped. There is no way to bargain your way out. Devotion, money, power - this woman doesn't want ANY of it! She can't be stopped. Nothing but a bullet can stop her.
Kim silently sobbed on the ground curled up a fetal position. "What do I do?" she cried silently. All she has done has changed nothing. NOTHING!!
"How am I gonna tell her about this? Jasper- Maya- I- I am so sorry," she sobbed into her hands uncontrollably. So she cried on the floor occasionally letting out an unhuman yelp of sheer desperation. They were trapped. There was no escape. Everybody they love, everybody they know will end up here. In the cold hands of death.
"Sawyer-" the girl coughed out a name she so dearly cared about. A name Maya so dearly cared about. "I am so sorry. I failed you-" in a desperate attempt to save her friend Kim didn't realize how she has crossed the line of many many other prisoners who are trapped here along with them. Maybe if she included Maya on the list nothing would have happened. Maybe if she didn't make a deal nothing would have happened. Maybe-
Kim stood up in a coughing fit. She needed to breathe. Just breath. On all fours, she crawled back towards the bag. She took a sharp breath-
"Rest in peace," and whispered. After a short pause, Kim took one last look at the beautiful young girl before zipping the bag back up.
