After Geoff finished yelling, there was a loud knock from the other side. This wasn't Jessica using her morse code. Clever on her part to use it as communication to everyone behind the wall. Noah was smart enough to translate most of the knocks before, and Geoff immediately felt the salty clump that was pride swell up and he had to swallow it back down. The punch sounded...angry. Geoff's hand shot right back to his cheek where Claudie had struck him. Had there been no wall, he might have received a black eye to go along with the bruise and scratched arm. The bandage Keiari had given him was lost when he was forced into the stuffy tuxedo. Maybe it was still there, but he couldn't tell. The jacket was big. This is was why he preferred the comfort of his vest He was kept warm yet also practical.
He wrapped his arms around his chest. The tuxedo vest was too tight. Removing it would spite their kidnapper. He saw the all-seeing black eye. How had he not noticed the camera earlier? Oh, because he was in 'paralysis by analysis' on the wrong thing. The bottled up anger that finally popped like a chemistry experiment had taken a lot out of him, and he buried his head in his lap. There was nothing left to say.
No one really listened to him anyways.
Noah went on to help clarify more points about needing allies. Part of him knew that Jessica would listen. She loved pop culture and would use it to her advantage to find some ways out. Good. Keep it to the point, Noah. Whoever has the camera might be watching us. Geoff kept his gaze at the camera. If he had laser eyes like the robots he saw in sci-fi movies and wanted to create one day, the black box would be a pile of smoking ash.
Great. Now, this outburst was only confirming what they probably thought of him. Someone was walking away from the wall. Geoff had wanted to ask if there were any cameras in their room, but remembering his convulsions stopped him from asking. His hand went to his wrist where he had been zapped, almost to death. A horrible vindictive thought crossed his mind, but she shook it out. Make allies, not enemies, he reminded himself.

There was a long, dreadful silence that hung over the four of them. Noah heard a little knock from the other side, presumably from Jessica. Except this didn’t sound like Morse Code. No it was just…knocking. No one was speaking, not even Noah knew what else to say. Perhaps Jessica was trying to say something to her fellow roommate. Though it sounded like it didn’t end well because he heard footsteps walk away from their spot. The architect looked over to Geoff, who looked both frustrated and exhausted. He didn’t exactly blame him…
Noah turned his attention back to their neighbors. “Um…is anyone still there?”

Even though now Jessica was not able to forgive Geoff, she assumed that he was not their enemy. The girl believed that it was not Until Dawn situation (spoiler alert) when one of the victims actually made conspiracy against his "friends" and had planned this all along. Jessica could not understand how Geoff could not listen to their begging but... she could not remember if she told what was written on the note. Maybe he had no other choice. Jessica just... did not want to give up on him. She never was that kind of girl who shoots (no pun intended) from the hip. So yeah, it was surprising how she did not stuck in an abusive relationship with such an attitude.
Jessica looked at Emmy and was dismayed by her reaction. Was she... crying? Was it Jessica's fault, or Geoff's or both of them? In any case... Jess was feeling guilty and lost. She did not know what to do and what to say to calm her down. The girl just desired to make alive out of this mess and did not want to have another Until Dawn spoiler moment, when someone leaves her to die because of the stupid choice she has done earlier, ruining the relationship.
"You're insane," heard Jessica her roommate's whisper and it made her even more uncomfortable and lost. Emmy was crying and it was not like the mute girl could comfort her. The awkward silence hanged up in the air and Jessica sighed. She had to think quickly to save the day and it was not so easy without a voice.
Jessica began to knock, using the Morse code this time. She tried to make her message quick because she believed that Emmy needed her... even though she would probably take it out on her. In any case, the girl needed to calm down the boys behind the wall at first, so they won't say something that upsets Emmy even more.
"IMALLY.BRB"
She could just hope that Noah understands that it meant "I'm an ally. Be right back." but she was not sure if he knew these modern teenage abbreviations. Maybe Geoff could help him?
Jessica began to write on a new page even though she was not sure that Emmy will even look. But what else could she do? No matter what Jessica would right, it felt stupid and pointless inside her head.
"I can't forget and forgive too. But I know him and he is not our enemy. I don't ask you to trust him but fights won't help us survive. Please... don't cry."
Jessica came to Emmy and showed her what she has written. The girl hesitated for the moment, wondering if she should hug Emer to calm her down... but she was not close enough with her and was afraid that Emmy would push her away. So she just gently tried to take her hand, showing support, really slowly, so if Emmy shows that she does not want this, Jessica will remove her hand immediately without touching. Even though she was afraid that it could only make it worse.

Emmy wasn't even looking in Jessica's direction, but she could hear the knocking start back up. It infuriated her. They probably don't even know morse code, you idiot. She was so angry, so lost and so betrayed. Jessica knew this guy from before, that much was obvious, so it probably shouldn't have been a great shock that she'd take his side, but this situation was so messed up, how could she not see what a horrible thing he'd done? Emmy couldn't remember if Jessica had been one of the girls he'd pointed a gun at, but she couldn't imagine this reaction from her if he had. That sinking pit in your stomach as you think you're about to die? She could never have imagined that horrible feeling before facing it herself, and now she doubted she'd ever forget it.
Jessica was writing, and the slow and impractical communication method was irking her even more than usual. Emmy wanted to scream at her, but didn't find the words to use, so she just let her write in peace. Once the girl finished and presented her with the paper, Emmy dried her eyes with her hand, trying to get a better view of the letters.
"I can't forget and forgive too. But I know him and he is not our enemy. I don't ask you to trust him but fights won't help us survive. Please... don't cry."
Not our enemy... is she serious?
"He won't help us survive!" she snapped. "He's made it painfully obvious he has no qualms about killing any one of us on a dime, and you're sorely mistaken if you think he won't do it again!" Why wouldn't he? He'd shown himself capable of cold-blooded, unhesitating, unflinching murder. In truth, he was likely just a person like everyone else here, but right now Emmy couldn't see it. "And screaming a fauxpology doesn't exactly convince me otherwise!" She was being too loud, and they were too close to the wall. She breathed in a trembling sob and tried to gauge how much the guys would have been able to hear from the other side of the wall.
While lost in her own thoughts, Jessica made a move for her hand, and she quickly recoiled. She didn't want to be touched right now. She felt too vulnerable, too exposed and insecure and raw. Too like a frightened child.

Strong men could cry. Emer's yelling was rebounding across the room. Geoff scrunched far away from the wall, away from Emer's anger. He understood why she was mad, but it still didn't hurt any less. He tried apologizing. Twice. Did she listen? Fuck no. He left the wall to be by himself, away from Noah and away from all the slander being thrown in his direction. Yelling back would only prove her opinions of him. Besides, they needed to stick together of this weird twisted game was going to continue.
Tears fell from his shut eyes. He put the pillow over his head to drown out her screams. It kept reminding him of what he had gone through.

Noah heard Jessica’s knocks again, telling them she was an ally and “brb”. He didn’t really know what that meant, but it was probably an abbreviation for something. Possibly to take her leave? Sure enough, he heard footsteps walking away from the wall. The two men sat in silence, waiting for one or both the girls to come back and continue their conversation.
This did not happen.
Noah had briefly separated himself from the wall as Emer began to yell at the mute girl, talking about how Geoff has no mercy, no hesitation to kill if he needed to. The architect look at his ally to see….
Was….was he crying?
Sure enough the engineer sat at the complete opposite end of the room, tears streaming down his face. Noah’s eyes saddened, he could hardly form a voice or an opinion on the matter. He wasn’t there and he didn’t know these people very well. He didn’t feel like anyone was wrong for how they felt, yet he just…didn’t want to focus on that. He so tried to hide his negative feelings, the stress, the anxiety, the fear. He was so scared it was hard to process at times, but he never wanted to vocalize it. No, he couldn’t vocalize it.
Instead, Noah leaned against the wall, maybe hoping someone might come back. Yet it felt like their conversation had come to a rather melancholy end.

Jessica felt that her knocking must irritate Emmy but she did not want to be rude and just leave without saying goodbye.
The girl was nervous because she believed that no matter what she wrote it would be totally wrong... and unfortunately, she was right. It did not help at all.
When Emmy snapped at her, Jessica looked at her really resentful as if she could begin to cry. She closed her eyes for a moment to hold these betrayal tears. Jessica turned red and barely managed to listen to Emer until the end. She was trembling and tried to become smaller. The girl did not try to write something for quite a long time because she was afraid that she would burst into tears. Finally, Jessica was ready and wrote the following: "Look. I know how you feel. I was there. He fired at Kim. My best friend. His friend. I still have this nightmare every single night. But I know one thing for sure. I don't want to increase the chances of being killed by Geoff because of a fight. I need to make sure that I did everything so he won't betray us. Again. I don't ask you to trust him or forgive. I just want both of us to stay alive and the fight only increases the chances that he leaves us to die in the crucial moment." Jessica was surprised how she managed to put all this text in the book and how deadly serious she was. Maybe such thinking made her a bad person but... it was true. Partially. At the same time she believed in Geoff's remorse but still was afraid. Her memories just were too fresh. Maybe Geoff will be tricked again or become so desperate that he will abandon people who constantly reproach him. Why should he care if they treat him so badly?
Anyway, Jess just hoped that it will change Emmy's mind. She also wanted to live after all. One last try.

Jessica's anger was apparent on her red face, and Emmy didn't care. Or, she did care, not that she'd hurt her, but that Jessica was getting angry on his behalf. She didn't care what kind of history they had together. Geoff had done something absolutely monstrous, and instead of empathizing with the victim, she was standing up for the guy. Emmy was actually grateful that she didn't seem to want to write anything back, she wasn't sure she wanted to read what she had to say. Still, the appreciated moment of peace didn't last all too long, and Jessica eventually began writing again. Emmy debated with herself whether she wanted to read it or not, watching the girl write furiously, seemingly no longer caring about the book she'd tried so hard not to ruin before. Not that Emmy cared, there were seemingly hundreds more in the bookshelf, and she'd never cared much for books anyway. Despite how annoying she found the sight of her writing, Emmy resolved herself to at least give it a try, and when presented with the book once more, she reluctantly lowered her gaze to the paper. "Look. I know how you feel. I was there. He fired at Kim. My best friend. His friend. I still have this nightmare every single night. But I-"Okay, no, Emmy wasn't doing this. She stopped reading altogether, angrier than she'd ever been. But. How could there be a 'but' after all that? Was she in love with this guy or something? Had he brainwashed her completely? But. But. But. The word kept resounding in her head, angering her more each time. "Go to hell, Jessica," she said, and stormed off towards the bathroom. She couldn't even stand being in the same room as her. She wasn't quite sure how this would play out in the long run, seeing as she couldn't stay in the bathroom forever. But right now it didn't matter. Right now she just needed space, and a break from this whole situation. Leave me the fuck alone.[THREAD END]
